Dalam hati kecilku aku merenungi kalimat itu Ia mungkin kecewa, bisa juga heran sekaligus sangsi Aku memang bukan apa-apa Tapi aku ingin menjadi apa-apa.. Dan disitulah letak kerumitannya. Aku tak mampu. Hari ini raport UTS dibagikan. Sudah kuduga disana adalah nilai yang asli. Dan nilai yang kupermainkan benar-benar tertera disana fiqh : 60 Bahasa Indonesia : 40 Bahasa Inggris : 60 PKn : 42 Bukankah itu deretan nilai yang mengagumkan? aku menyukainya. sekaligus membencinya. Aku ingin memberontak. tapi pada siapa? Aku ingin mengadu. tapi pada siapa? Aku ingin marah. tapi pada siapa? Aku ingin menangis. tapi untuk apa? Itu sudah terjadi dan takkan kembali. Ini benar-benar sebuah kehidupan yang melelahkan Aku sadari itu. Ibuku seorang guru bahasa Indonesia dan tentu akan 'bangga' dengan nilai kursi terbalikku itu. bahkan mungkin, Akan amat sangat 'bangga'! Dan sekarang aku membutuhkan tanda tangannya.

Tujuh kali aku pernah mencela jiwaku. Pertama kali ketika aku melihatnya lemah, padahal seharusnya ia bisa kuat. Kedua kali ketika melihatnya berjalan terjungkit-jungkit di hadapan orang yang lumpuh. Ketiga kali ketika berhadapan dengan pilihan yang sulit dan mudah ia memilih yang mudah. Keempat kalinya, ketika ia melakukan kesalahan dan coba menghibur diri dengan mengatakan bahwa semua orang juga melakukan kesalahan. Kelima kali, ia menghindar karena takut, lalu mengatakannya sebagai sabar. Keenam kali, ketika ia mengejek kepada seraut wajah buruk padahal ia tahu, bahwa wajah itu adalah salah satu topeng yang sering ia pakai.
